Sprout’s Eco-Friendly Watches Boast Sustainable Materials and Recycled Packaging

Picture of a wrist watch.Sprout is a company that has been in the watch-making business for more than 50 years, but only recently started thinking about ways to make a more eco-friendly watch. Using sustainable materials that range from corn resin to bamboo, as well as packaging its products in recycled fibers, Sprout's watches are truly making a difference in the effort to reduce waste and be kinder to the environment.

Among the many materials that Sprout uses to create its watches are corn resin, Tyvek® and bamboo. The use of corn resin as a renewable resource helps reduce the need for oil-based plastics. Corn resin is as strong as traditional virgin plastic materials, yet is 99% biodegradable. Tyvek® is a strong, tear-resistant material that can be safely incinerated or recycled after use. Bamboo is an extremely eco-friendly material that can be used in anything from packaging to clothing. Its ability to grow back quickly after harvesting makes it a very renewable, accessible resource.

In addition to crafting the watches using sustainable materials, Sprout also packages its watches in packaging made from 80% post-consumer fibers. The packaging can be safely recycled after use.
